Healthy Dessert

Assalamualaikum.

You know how we always say to ourselves "we'll practice a healthier diet NEXT time" and the next day,we forget all about it.I told myself that I should eat healthy meals but when you're out and about everyday,I can't really find the time to cook healthy food everyday and later found myself craving all of sinful food that is not even healthy.*cough*rendang*cough*

What's worse is that I always need desserts to complete my meal. Both lunch and dinner. PMS and midterms are pushing me to bake than oh-my-goodness Mini Lava Chocolate Cake and pair it with either vanilla ice cream or hazelnut ice cream..I know..but alhamdulillah.Last time when I went grocery shopping, they're out of Breyer's ice creams. Instead, I substituted the ice creams with something that is a lot healthier. Yogurt and fresh berries. It's for sure less than 200 calories per bowl and that's not even low fat.Yes I know,I shouldn't be talking about calories and really, especially now when I'm not really excercising as much as I used to.Anyhoos, compare that with chcolotae cake and ice cream which can be about 1000 calories.0.o AYAYAY!!!!!

Yogurt and berries

Berries of your choice(I usually buy the ones on sale=D)
Vanilla Yogurt
Dash of Cinnamon

you could use other flavours too:)

Strawberries are yummy too

Some yogurts have gelatin in it so,read the label first before buying them:) I think tropical sour-sweet tropical fruit like pineapple would taste yummy too,but instead of cinnamon, sprinkle roasted coconut on top.Sooo pina colada-ish!

Till then.Bonsoir,
Wasalam.

Montreal's Yong Tau Foo

Assalamualaikum.

I don't know why but I suddenly LOVE yong tau foo. When i went back to Malaysia last summer, everytime we went to Pasar Malam,I'll bring back a plastic bag of hot Yong Tau Foo.:)
Being me who always take more than I need,I'll always have the leftover for breakfast.Yes.For breakfast.Since coming back to Montreal,I've been craving for it.So I made my own..and yes,I had it for breakfast..with coffee..:)
Yong Tau Foo
Broth/Base
2 cups of water
1  cube of chicken stock
A dash of pepper

Boil everything together.

Sauce
1 big chunk of Gula Melaka/Palm Sugar
1 cube of anchovy stock
2 cups of water
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
2 tablespoon of dried chili flakes
Salt(if needed)

In a (sauce)pan, let the sugar melt in the water.
Add the anchovy paste and chili flakes
Mix the cornstarch with a bit of water and pour it in.
Add salt.
Broth/Base

Sauce
=)

Ain't it simple? The price of yong tau foo at the Pasar Malam..Wallao.*shakes head*One fish ball can cost you 50 cents or so. Tengok harga, belum makan dah kenyang.=/
The recipe calls for belacan.I don't eat belacan. So that's why i substituted it with anchovy paste.I used to have allergies, now I just don't eat it.
Oh plus,I prepared it exactly like Mak Cik Pasar Malam did.Using a kitchen tong and a scissors.Teehee.:)

Those overseas,its easy peasy.Try it.:)

Bathroom Makeover

Assalamualaikum

So I moved into a new apartment ages ago.The feeling of having your own space is indescribable.I do try to make my house as homie as possible. As you may know, moving costs a lot!A LOT!Fees for breaching the lease(ehem), buying furniture and appliances and moving them to a new place.Fiuh.So I tried to save where I can while decorating my place. The first place that I attacked was the bathroom. The thing about living room/bedroom,I already have most of my furniture so its not as easy. But with the bathroom,I could choose the color and theme. So if you know me well enough, you'd know peacock literally chirps my name(do they chirp?).
I did some research online and hit the dollar store.

acrilic paints in gold, lime green and blue
brushes
sponge(for wiping smudges)
clear shower curtain
and happy thoughts (bonus++)

I sketched my design on a piece of paper, put it undernearth the shower curtain and paint over it.=)
I was pretty nervous because,i'm not good at drawing. But oh well,

Bigger picture
Done

The thing is,I love pretty things and pretty things come with a cost.I was browsing through Anthropologie online store and what not.Theirs are gorgeous, but not something that I would invest in.So,be creative, colorful hand and foot prints would be a fun design and I'm sure it'll be a fun project too.Art is abstract.Go crazy.
I also like the rooms in my place(as if I have that many!) to have a theme colour. As you can see, my btrhoom is green and blue.Since I don't really like blue, most of my stuffs are green.:D

Dollar stores or bargain stores have some really interesting things that would cost a bomb elsewhere..

Again,go crazy. The shower curtain is your canvas.
Another cute thing that you could do is buy a pretty fabric from the sale section, cut small holes and Voila!

MI VANT TO SEW PWETZY SKEWRTS AND DIRTZY MI HANDS WIT PAPIER MACHE!MIDTERMS,Y SO MANY?!;(
I IS DIE.
